Rahman, (Sir) Ahmad Fazlur (1889-1945) educationist. Born at Jalpaiguri in India in 1889 Ahmad Fazlur Rahman passed matriculation examination in 1908 from Jalpaiguri Zila School, obtained his BA (Hons) in History in 1912 from the Oxford University in London and MA degree from Calcutta University in 1913. In 1914, he was the sub-editor of the Sadler Commission (calcutta university commission).

Fazlur Rahman started his career as a Lecturer in History in the Aligarh University in 1914 and continued to serve there till 1921 when he was appointed as Reader in the Department of History in the Dhaka University. Fazlur Rahman was the Provost of Salimullah Muslim Hall of Dhaka University from 1921 to 1927. He was elected a member of the Bengal Legislative Council in 1923 from the Dhaka University constituency. He was nominated as a member of the Legislative Council in 1927. Fazlur Rahman was the chairman of the Dhaka Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board in 1934.

Ahmad Fazlur Rahman

Ahmad Fazlur Rahman was the Vice Chancellor of the Dhaka University from 1934 to 1936. The Dhaka University conferred upon him the honorary Doctor of Law degree in 1937. The same year he was appointed a member of the Federal Public Service Commission of India. Fazlur Rahman was knighted by the Government of India in 1942. He died in 1945 AD.
