Zanjira Upazila (shariatpur district) with an area of 239.53 sq km, is bounded by
lohajang and
songibari upazilas on the north,
shariatpur sadar and
naria upazilas on the south, Naria upazila on the east,
shibchar and
madaripur sadar upazilas on the west. Main rivers are Padma and Palang.
Zanjira (Town) consists of 9 wards and 19 mahalllas.
The area of the town is 1.32 sq km. It has a population of 16896; male
48.99%, female 51.01%. The density of population is 12800 per sq km. The
literacy rate among the town people is 39.9%.
